My dad bought my mom, brother and I new Yamahas. He had the dealership build hers, but my brother and I would not get to ride unless we built ours from the sub-assembly level they were imported in.

The crated motorcycles were supposed to be built only by technicians at Yamaha dealers, so there were no instructions. My dad told us to look at Mom's finished bike any time we got stuck and did not know what to do.

After double checking some of our work and re-torquing some critical bolts, we were able to ride our new bikes. I barely touched the ground then.

Now I have grown into the bike and feel very comfortable on it. I know and respect the mechanical aspects and care more about it, since I had to do all the assembly. I have done all the maintenance on it each year
