1965 Pontiac GTO

Origin-

My dad bought this car over 20 years ago.   In 2010 he gave it to me.

Specs-

Engine:   Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8

Rear end gear ratio:   3:55

Transmission:   Turbo 400 (3 speed automatic)

Modifications-

- 400 Pontiac motor (I rebuilt and put in).

- Brand new black convertible vinyl top.

- 65 gto hood painted body color and installed.

- different front and rear chrome bumpers.

- aluminum wheels.

- racing bucket seats and harnesses installed.

- gas tank stripped and coated in silver paint

- electric fuel pump installed to cope with today's fuel

Some of my friends' parents bought them their cars.

They are all nice, reliable cars that get good gas mileage and never seem to need repair.

My parents are not like that I guess. Here is the car I got.

It did not even have an engine. I rebuilt this engine and put it in. My friends think it is funny that the engine is cleaner than the outside of the car. I added new exhaust (loud) and new brakes to make sure it is safe.

I have added racing seats and harnesses in it and am working on the body.

I am not sure why but after all the other things we did to this car, the convertible top has been the biggest challenge. It is almost done.
